Walk for Seniors, Saturday July 26

If we do not lay out ourselves in the service of mankind whom should we serve? – John Adams

As some of you already know, the NYC Council cut the budget for social services, and the NYC Housing authority is closing more than 100 senior centers through the city.

In response to the budget cuts and the city’s actions, the Chinese-American Planning Council is hosting a walkathon in an attempt to raise funds.  The CPC is a non-profit organization that creates programs that assists youths, parents, and the elderly of all ethnic backgrounds.

The walkathon will start at 10am in Columbus Park, located in Chinatown.  People will cross the Brooklyn Bridge to Cadman Plaza in downtown Brooklyn.  This is approximately 5 miles.
